Chris Lee, Head Coach
TEAMS: 2012 and 2014 Girls
My wife would describe my passion for soccer as an addiction. The thrill of playing has been a catalyst for my personal growth, invaluable life lessons, and the formation of relationships. This has been true for my formative years and into adulthood. Having the opportunity to share my love for the most beautiful game is an honor. It is a profound connection that has fueled my desire to give back to the sport that has given me so much.
I work full time at a wholesale nursery growing plants. There are metaphorical parallels between cultivating plants and developing young players. Just as an Acer palmatum matures with years of nurturing and training, players too evolve with time, effort and dedicated mentorship.
I grew up most of my life on the east coast, and played club and school soccer the entire time I was there. I was offered the remarkable experiences of training both in Holland and Argentina. These journeys were transformative, not just for skill development, but also character growth. I also encountered instances where coaching fell short of inspiring positivity. As a parent of two older children, I have had privileged firsthand the significant impact coaches have on young minds. Coaches shape not only a player’s athletic journey, but also character formation. Drawing from these diversities, I am committed to offering these young players the kind of mentorship that leaves an indelible mark on their lives, instilling not only tactical and technical competence, but also ideals to serve beyond the pitch.
On the pitch we focus on confidence. Confidence with the ball at our feet allows us to make good decisions. The confidence to take on other players empowers. We talk about being fierce champions. Being fierce is a powerful intensity of boldness. Champions do the right thing, even when it is not the easiest. We create an environment where each player can thrive, learn, and grow.
